THE LATEST AT LEGACY HEALTH ENDOWMENT
Defining leadership before politics
We are battling for the soul of the future public health of our communities. At times like this, we need to applaud leaders like Mayor Zwahlen and ask ourselves whether the other elected officials afraid to help protect our children when the CDC has said this Delta variant is as contagious as the chickenpox? We cannot fail to prepare for when our children return to school in a few weeks – in some cases, just a few days. We need to take proactive measures and make sure that all those who are eligible get vaccinated. And when in public spaces indoors, the vaccinated and unvaccinated alike should wear masks.
Investing in the future: Protecting our children
We are all fed up with wearing masks, and there is probably no group more tired of wearing masks than our school children, but it is worth remembering that global events have dictated the course of action for an entire generation at different times in our nation's history. For example, many young men and women put their hopes and dreams on hold to enter the service of our country during World War II, never to return home. Those selfless souls, known fondly as "the greatest generation," put their lives on the line during a global conflict.
